Dr. Bradley Colten teaches full-time in the Music History department where he also serves as Department Coordinator. He holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music (DMA & MM), New England Conservatory of Music (BM) and from Tufts University (BS).
Before turning his focus to academic teaching, Bradley was an active concertizing and recording classical guitarist and performed nationally and abroad as a soloist and chamber musician. He premiered, commissioned and advocated for new repertoire and worked with luminaries in the field such as Ned Rorem, Mario Davidovsky, Joan Tower, and Roland Dyens, among others.
Additionally, Bradley unearthed significant, new repertoire for the classical guitar by American composer, Ernst Bacon. This discovery culminated with critical edition scores, articles, interviews, concerts and a CD on the Azica Records label, which documented close to sixty minutes of unknown repertoire for the guitar.
